JOSEPH HAYDN & THE MECHANICAL ORGAN
This remarkable book was first published in 1982 by Cardiff University College Press and describes the Author's work in locating the clockwork table organs built by Prince Esterhazy's librarian in order to play music specially composed for these novel instruments. Since that time, the Author has lectured widely on Haydn's contribution to the mechanical musical instrument repertoire and has broadcast several concerts of the music on BBC Radio Three. One of the instruments that he found and described has now been acquired for a national museum where it has been restored to perfection. A new and updated version of this ground-breaking book is in preparation for publication early next year.
